Hellfish proto 13m addendum,,what I learned

Postby fokiten » Sat Jul 09, 2005 6:04 am

Regards,,

After much fuss and bother, line tweeking etc,,I've got the fish dialed...

That thing rocks,,Hate to say it but sq was right, in light wind just park it and let it run...

I was powered and ripping upwind in less than 10 mph.

My highly skilled bud was doing decent jumps on a 122 board in about 8mph.

Please note, we don't have wind meters,, It's just our guess of the wind speed.

I'm very impressed now,,,if you buy one you won't regret it on a performance basis...

Hey,,I'm not kidding that's one sweet kite.

Thanks G-man

Fo, :thumb:

What is the difference of jumping hight VS. conventional L.E.I. and between Rapture?

How is the hangtime compared to conventional L.E.I. and Rapture?

How do you feel about steering speed and compared to what?

What would you say about the top end limit?

I know you're very safety conscious whaaazzzuuuup with that?

Thanks,

DrLightWind

And 122 is the width of the board? measured in inches?

fo, i'm guessing you had a little more up top then you had at 'ear' level...

but the technique stuff holds true, it goes in less wind if you just park it an sometimes pump it gently.

It was one of those wide short boards,,,

I,,, not quite knowing what to expect was on my lightwind plywood heavy board,,

I was actually having trouble holding my edge,,

I do not know what the wind a loft was like but I can tell you I had to run upwind to get it launched,,,

It's a head scratcher,,, I was amazed to say the least...

DR. L/W,,

Actually I think my 8.4 airblast turns faster than the fish??

It's a smaller kite though,, as far as jumping in light wind? hellfish all the way

Is the helfish a good storm kite? I don't know,,,I know the Rapture is though.

The kites have such different goals, I think they both achived them.

I'd like to own both Kites.

Fo thats really super wishy washy info.
Whats the riders weight?
Whats the boardsize (122 what? stacked bananas?)
And finally, show me a video with a proper windmeter where you are jumping decently, f*** it, AT ALL, on a 13m HF in 7 knots. Oh f*** that too, go ahead, show me it in 10mph (thats 9 knots).
If you need an example, check out my flysurfer speed video.

http://www.radicalwaveibiza.com/speed17m.wmv

When I see that, Im gonna sell the HF like crazy over here. Only somehow I dont think its gonna happen.

Ah what the hell, send me an HF to test, comon, send me one Alex - make me a believer and you will get a voice that will be heard and actually sound a bit objective.
Theres NOTHING I want more than to kite in 7-9 knots, jumping and gaining height on a small kite. PLEASE let me have it. I dont give a rats ass if its a LEI, foil, flat kite, whatever. Ill video it, no doubts whatsoever, trust me, its going to be just as clean as the speed video.

Look,,

I'd don't know what to tell you, A few days before I was struggling with the fish in light wind,,I had to work my ass off to get back.

This time I had rerigged it with power streering/reverse-launch bridles,,,

The taco thing was freaking me out,,(our spot is no place to get stuck) and I was just testing the re-rig (I had to run to get the kite up) once it was up it felt powered,,,so I grabbed my big plywood board and took it out,,,

It was amazing,, no white-caps, gentle ripples,,I'd guess 10 mph. or less,,

(we don't even own windmeters, you kidding me?)

I rode it a half mile or so upwind,,big rooster tail, powered???Yeah..powered, go figure

I sailed it back, handed it off to my pal,(he's about 170 lbs.) ,told him "I tihink any board would work,, he has that new caution board (122),,its yellow, that's all I know about it..

He started jumping, not big jumps, but little decent jumps,,,It was light, we thought about 8 mph or so.

That's the story,, that's what happened.

It's ok if you don't have to believe me, I don't care if you do or don't.

don't be madd though,,,I'm not

G-man lives in La La land if he thinks he's getting this fish back...

fo i didnt say i dont believe you, im sure you are as objective as possible. But id say your guess about the windstrength must be off, thats all.
And the board, if it was a caution redline, had 122cm x 38cm. Thats very, very short for close to no wind. Plus he weighs 77kgs... thats 5kgs more than me.
Believe me, I really want it to be true.

I wouldn't put you on, his board seemed wider than 38cm., is there another model that's 05 and short?

I feel pretty good about saying that the lightness and thinness of the kite seems to make it a supurb preformer...

Let's see how the production models review.

I'm stoked with my flawed proto...

Thanks Alex
