I'm super stoked for all New Zealenders and Michael Campbell for winning one of golfs toughest test...the US open.
Few in the US know Michael which is too bad, but my wife and I met him on the Blackwolf Run golf course in Kohler WI years ago as he was practicing a day before an event there. We were on a par 5 and he comes up behind us with his wife and caddie as they were figuring out yardages on each hole. He lays down a ball about 235 from the hole...guessing this is where his tee shot will land...and rips a 2 iron over a river and lands it on the green. I follow by ripping a 3 wood right into the river. typical amateur...
I recognized him from following the tour before and the guy is super nice. He joined us for a few holes and ever since have been following his career through many ups and downs.
I hope this gives Micheal the credit and kudos he deserves.
Any sports fan can appreciate the incredible nerves of steel needed to win this tournament.
I'm a big Tiger fan also, so today's event was awesome competition where the tourney was won by great play from a great player.
Congrats Michael.

Michael Campbell is not a kiter. I'm pretty darn shite at golf and tennis (the two seem to be related for some reason). Both sports i have the power but not the accuracy and the club/racket usually goes further than the ball. As for driving ranges... now they fully kick ass. infact golf actually kicks ass because it involves a hard and dangerous projectile being propelled at a high velocity and would wreck havok on whatever it so chooses to smite.
Back on topic this thread is in it's rightful place... If we ever cared about kiwis topping the world in something I'd rather hear something like Cindy Mosey winnin the world champs... but since she allways does that i guess that vibe is a tad rung out now.
Yes NZ is a good place to kite once you get out of the urban areas. The best beaches in the country have actually never been kited. If we really want to mix golf and kiteboarding i could start practicing my driving on the beach and aim for any one that happens to be kiting in the water... that would be a fun game.

The lions sure took it in the arse but they taught us sheep bangers how to behave. i stand by my word.... NZ kiters are pretty arrogant but the conditions here are bloody awesome. The crew out my way is totally different in that they rock. As for Campbell... his title win is long overdue... but as i said before... golf and tennis...WTF???!!! Not in NZ mate... not in this crazy windswept anti bush stronghold
