Cabrinha Crossbow
First point…..I am not sponsored or in anyway connected with Cabrinha. I am not pimping this brand or this kite. This is purely my thoughts and experiences on something new. If you want to disregard them please do so.
I have had the chance to fly the 9m Crossbow on 3 different occasions now. The first day was around 25 to 30 knots and incredibly gusty. The 2nd was around 35 gusting 40 knots with waves up to around 2 meter faces. On both these occasions I used a Nobile 128x39.5 twin tip. On the third time I used a 5'10â€

Cabrinha Crossbow
Probably it is not the ideal kite for Looped passes
Well, forget it then...no looped passes?? I just don't know who is going to buy this kite now...

What about the speed of the kite? I have read where others are disappointed with the speed of the Crossbow. Seems to be slower than the traditional inflatables. What are your thoughts?

There is a hole covered in neoprene in the canopy so that the inflation valve does not rub on the ripstop. Maybe I am missing something here (and I hope so) but why not just move the valve round the leading edge. In a very well finished kite it looks strange.
The covered neoprene hole is so that you can inflate the kite leading edge down on the ground instead of leading edge up. This way you don't have to flip the kite over after inflation. Also keeps your hands on the pump
instead of one on the pump and another on the kite

Seems like a great idea to me.

i have been riding the 9 crossbow now for about 4 days here on maui, and can only confirm marks findings, the kite has unbeliebable range, i was out on days here on maui when everyone was riding 7s, 6s....and had no problem whatsoever....
The Hangtime is insane, and this kite will give the feeling of actually flying the kite in air for the first time ever...this kite gets definetly more air than any other kite that i have seen here in maui......
As for waves, there are not any right here, but i could see it working well with the little windswell we have here........just make sure you pump the kite up hard enough, but dont pump it till it explodes....hehehe....
Congrats Pete, Pat and Danno........

Mark
Thanks for the detailed report, very nice read.
For the rest of this group:
Is it just me or was Mark's report a breath of fresh air on this forum? It seems like there has been so much pimping of brands on here that a good honest report is so nice to read for a change. Wouldn't it be nice to see more unbiased reporting on this forum? I am not trying to start a new thread of crap here, but I really appreciate reading a decent report. And it doesn't have to come from a Mark Shinn or other pro rider to be honest and straight forward; just an objective report does it for me. So thanks to Mark once again for your contribution.
