New Cabal Fire Skimboard

Cabal Skimboards joined legendary skim shaper Eric Roush of Santa Cruz to release the Fire. I had the opportunity to ride one of the boards and was completely blown away. I own and ride the Cabal SX 46, and the FIRE adds a new performance to kite skimming.

I noticed an incredible improvement in going rail to rail and shove-its and skate manuevers on the FIRE seem easier than ever. The change in rocker and railshape make riding toeside and surfing and hacking even the smallest windswell feel like gliding on a 9ft longboard, but with the maneuverability of a performance shortboard. The constuction looks killer and uses a single high density PVC foam core and PVC rail inserts. The topsheet graphics are simple and look killer, and it even has grab rails for keeping the board in your hand during grabs and airial maneuvers!!!

Definitely an great board from Cabal. I'm so stoked on the board and can't wait to get one for myself!

Never tried a Skim board - but am desperate for something to help me in light wind (see my comments in the Speed 17 Review thread).
Do Skim boards make a HUGE difference?
Are they easy to find in the water after a wipe-out?
What features are best for light wind?
How does a Skim board compare to a 6ft Directional (surf board)?

Skimming with a kite is really fun and they definitely have more light air benefits than a surfboard. Because of the relatively flat rocker and lack of fins, skims plane out super early and keep speed much better than a surfboard or light wind twintip. After crashing itis easy to get your board unless you were going out-of-control fast and even then, it is the same as with any board. They are a little lower profile than a surf or twin so maybe a little tougher to see-I spray painted mine with cool florescent colors! Anyway...the outline of the board allows you to rail up wind as long as you are planing. You will be blown away how early you can plane, how fast you can go, and how high you can point on a skim. Try it and you won't be disappointed.

Big Winds and Storm Warning both had them in stock when I was in there Saturday.

what size should I get for med/light winds if im 175lbs
