Hi guys,

I'm pretty much decided on an Aero after taking in a lot of info on the many new kites out there this year.

I need your advice on sizing. I'm 5'11" (approx 180cm), 76kg and have been using a 2-line Wipika Classic 6.5m kite until now. Need a good 4 line to get better with and that I won't outgrow. Also the wind factor here on the South Coast, UK is varied, often either very little or far too much.

Do I go for the 10m, or 12m Aero?...and does a small change in size really make that much difference when you have the ability to de-power it?

It's over to you, thanks in advance,

Stace

it's hard to say, since we don't have an more or less exact wind speed.
Both sizes are good, and depowering can take a lot of power out of the kite.
First you can o a more or less powerful trim when attachig the lines to the kite. Then you have the adjuster and finally the depower loop. So with a 12 sqm kite you can fly with your weight and board about 12-25 knts and the 10 sqm from about 15-27 knts.

Thanks for the reply. I don't have a wind meter, but I'll probably go for the bigger size...more fun.

Another question then...I 'm probably being thick, but when a 4 line kite is 'de-powered', that just usually means less power, not no power, right? Unless I've got it all wrong, it seems that I might as well go for the bigger one if it can be de-powered.

you can only de-power it so far. sometimes even when it is depowered it is pulling too hard. this is when you use a smaller kite.

depowering means you change the angle of the kite. with this action the kites has less area for the wind to be catched in, therefore it pulls less. but it still pulls.
And if a gust hits fully depowered, you still can fly up in the air. So always be cautious.

Thanks guys, I'll bear that in mind.

So, one more question then. When Naish state that a kite can be used between say 10 and 25 knots, Would the 10 be powered-up and the 25 be de-powered? That would make sense right?

Thanks for clearing up some of my 'basic' questions. I've gone and ordered the Aero 12.

Cheers,

Stace

Aero 12 is a good choice.
Good handling and easy water restart.
the size will make you happy.

I am looking for an Aero to replace my 11.5 ARX to be used in 12 to 20 knots. Do you recommend a 14 or 12? What is the wind range of the 14 and how does it compare to the 11.5ARX?
All opinions welcome.
Steve
