Hi Steve,

the Aero is an intermediate kite.
therefore it has less pwoer for jumping than the ARX. On the other side it pulls very good due to the deeper profile.
Depending on your weight and board size you should decide which size. Being heavier and small board, take the 14, being lighter and bigger board take the 12. Don't forget you are becoming better everytime you ride and then you want smaller boards and higher jumps. Therefore the 14 is better.

Thanks Toby, I will get the 14 as I weigh 83kg and use a 150 X 38 twin tip as my high wind board.

ok, I'm sure it is a good choice.
the kite handles well and the jumping is ok.
In waves you have a lot of fun with it!
Let us know how you liked it.

Greetings

Same problem for me:

I would like to purchase an aero to complete my 7m R3 in order to use it on a 5'2 Mutant. Should I buy the 12 or 14m2 Aero?

Thanks
Francisco

Francisco,

what is your weight and in which wind range would you like to ride in?

Toby,

My weight is currently 78kg, and I am willing to take with me two polyvalent and complementary kites on a round the world surfing trip. I would thus consider buying an Aero to complete my naish R3 7m, but do not know which size would be best. I think I would use it whith a 5'2 mutant.

Thanks

Francisco

Hi Francisco,

the 7 sqm makes me nervous.

The gap between a bigger kite and this kite is very big.
Normally you use this setup (all surface area):
2 kites = 9 + 13-14 sqm
3 kites = 7 + 11 + 15

more or less these sizes.

So if you just wanted to use 2 Aeros I would go for a 10 and 14/16 sqm.

I heard from the Takoon Skoop 8.5 (surface area 11.6 sqm) that you can fly it from 10 knts to 30 with your weight.
But is is depending on the winds. Wherever you travel and have kight winds you need a big kite of 16 sqm, if you have winds like 15-20 knts a 12 sqm kite would be great.
If you can, keep the R3 7sqm and buy two kites with 11-12 and 15-16 sqm.
Then you an always go on the water withouit being over or underpowered.

Cheers
Toby

Toby, have used the Aero 14 on 3 days now from 10 - 23 knots. Great kite, very quick turning and almost idiot proof in the sky. Big improvement on my Arx 11.5

I was jumping higher than normal, although it may have partially been due to different technique. I have been working on my progressive edging, at the time of reversing the kite.

This kite is fast and takes time to adjust your looping technique to the faster kite turning.
