At 80kg the 10.5 should be fine... it can hold down a lot of power with the right technique and board.

It looks tiny next to 11.8 AB yet goes in less wind.

I'd go with the 8.5 depending on your level, what other kites you fly and what you ride.

I have skoops for sale but not 'cheap'.

If you are a beginner and never had a kite before, I would suggest a size of surface area 10-12 sqm. The Takoon 8.5 would be this size. According to oyur weight and assuming a board being a little bit longer (165-200cm) you should start with the Takoon at about 10 knts. It was reported that the Skoop 8.5 has a great performance in light winds as well as in strong winds (up to 30 knts!).

It is true that the 8.5 can hold down up to 30 knots... incredible as it may seem... much like last years 8.4 AB but with far better low end grunt, excellent stability and way better hang time.

I have also happily used the 6.5 Skoop from 15 knots to 35 knots on a 148 pitbull.. I weigh in at around 90kg.

I have recently worked the 10.5 Skoop in 8 knots on a 169 on 28m lines as well as enjoying 25 knots on 20m with a 148.

Depends what you are after and what your level is, what board ya got etc..

The 10.5 is certainly the choice lighter wind kite around at the moment imho. Not only does she go like stink in 10 knots but its light and fast to work and boost.

If I could have only one serious spec kite at the moment then this would be it for UK conditions, complimented with a cheap, used high wind kite ( small 30 knot+ kites are much of a muchness ). I have used most of the 2002 kites and last year flew Airblast as choice.

Having said that, the 8.5 is the real peach of the skoop range... its just not going to entertain much in less than 13knots though I've not tested the low end of the 8.5 yet and the 6.5 got me rockin in 15/16 knots onshore so it may well surprise yet?

Which kite leash is the best to ride with this kite?Which one is most secure one???

I have been using the S2 bar with mine a fair bit. Also the Takoobar and an old wipika bar. All of these have a bungee style leash coming from the top line leaders... the S2 bar being choice as it spins freely with the leash on whereas the takoon/wipi can only spin a few times before getting in the way of sheeting.

I did notice that on the Takoon bar the leash seemed to be too long and I needed to trim off around two ft. The early takoon bars also need around a foot taking off the back leaders to get the kite set up right for some reason.

The top spec Takoon Dreambar should be out soon.
