hello, In leucate there is often 15-20knots but you can sometimes meet wind of 40-50 knots for many days like for the wind festival last year (period of 16-25 avril)
I think you can begin at leucate, because there is some pond where you can go by every wind.
Bye

I think San Pere de Pescador is better (in summer at least). It's just 100-150km more to the south. Send me an E-mail if you want more info on San Pere de Pescador.

My excperience in Leucate last summer was 2 Beaufort or more than 7 Beaufort. Great for windsurfing but not for a starting kiter.

In the north of Spain most days 3-4 Beaufort (airblast 11. and some days a bit more (airblast 8.4). Rare are days without wind.

Hi Madcowboy

I know Leucate since I was a beginner in Kitesurfing. The lagoon, I think its cold etang or simular, has only 1 meter deep wather and therefore its a a good place to learn.
Regarding the wind, it's sometime very strong wind from the mountains, it's cold the "Tramontana". This wind is usualy very casty.
If you are ready to go kiting at the see, be carefull, the wind is often offshore!

Enjoy lern Kitesurfing, keep save and have fun!
Andy

The best lagoon ("Etang") is the Etang of La Palme. But San Pere de Pescador in the bay of Rosas a bit more to the south (100-150km) is much better with the windrange IMO (3-6 Beaufort instead of 2-3 and 7-12 Beaufort). Good luck!
