does anybody use some other device for ice kiting besides skates? i do not like the idea to use skates because i have never used skates. has anybody constructed something like montainboards on skates. local guys use special devices to windsurf the ice. they are too big for kiting. or you still find that skates are ok?

I know some guys in Montana that are going into production on some killer ice boards. You might email Keith at kmaxxed@aol.com for more info!

I'm using snow blades. They work fine on ice even if there's no snow on it. Of course a little snow on the ice makes it more fun (and it doesn't hurt so much when you fall).

Just remember to sharpen your edges

My friend is using a King Snowglider - a snowboard designed for kiting. It works fine on a plain ice as well as in powder snow.

I think Freeskate is somethink similar to kiteboard but has one big problem how to brake with it? In ater when there is no pull from kite you stop but on ice speed remains. Only solution is to brake with kite like dragrace cars.

have you tried skis yet? Are you sfraid of speed yet?
You'd be surprised at how good an edge they can hold! the longer the skis, the more speed you can expect. a waist harness works much better than a seat harness too

We just finished testing out our first batch of boards ...sweet ice the last two weeks! We build a 42 inch axle to axle board, low cner of gravity 9 ply maple deck, adjustable spring tensioned trucks, Symmetrical stainless steel runners, and standard snowboard bindin mounting holes. She is fast and smooth! Drop me a line for more info/ pictues. We will be at the Redbull Kite Freeze with a few boards in January!
I have been working on the design for 2 years and the new boards rip! No speed wobbles and light enough to boost decent air.
