I'm considering trading my LWD 169 for a UG SB 148. I'll use the SB in light winds 10-15, then move to a new UG WT 138 for higher winds.

Does anybody have experience with the SB? What's it like to ride when fully powered? I'm small, 65kgs, and so a bit worried about being able to control the wide SB in 15 knots of wind. Also, any problems with it in chop?

Thanks.

What size kite do you plan to use in 10 knots? If it's a decent 16m kite I would suggest even start looking at the FD.
Your 65 kgs thats bloody light for a SB...
The FD will be more controlable and more fun in chop for someone of your weight!

Where are you, are you able to try any of these boards?

I have a 158x43 magic carpet - but you definalty don't need that...

Cal, guess you finally sold me on the Magic Carpet. I ordered mine yesterday with the new carbon material. It should be here in about 3 weeks or so. I wish I'd have ordered it before the Christmas holidays. Oh well. I was able to try out the Smorgasboard again today. I was able to go in about 12mph on my X2 16. At 210lbs, that seems to be a pretty good trick. I wasn't able to go upwind, but I was having fun nontheless. I'm thinking that I may get a smaller board to ride when the MC is too much. I guess I'll see then. Definitely an Underground. These boards are great.

I was going to swap my used LWD 169 and exchange it for a used UG SB, which, I just found out, is no longer available. Bummer.

I want a short wide board for use with my Arc 1120 in 10-15 kts. When the wind picks up I'll move to a smaller WT, which I've yet to purchase

Good to hear!
Alot of guys around here are keen on the MC's now they have ridden mine, but it means 2 boards so I don't know how many will actually buy them.

My 147wt fits me perfectly with the MC, Im getting wound out on the MC at the same time as the WT is perfect.

Cheers
Callum

Cal,
What is the major difference between the SB and the WT147? It would seem they are the same length and width, aren't they?

Cal, seems like you da man when it comes to the MC. Your advise would be appreciated.

I'm looking for a light wind board and the MC sounds like the trick. I use a WT 147 and my biggest kite is a Rhino 2 16. Weight is 80 kg's. What do you think would be a good size MC for me to get going in 10 knots? Or maybe a Naish Mutant 5'4"?

Sendit,
The WT is 38cm wide and the smorgas board is 43 cm wide - the smorgas board is actually as wide as my magic carpet.

Peebs,
The magic carpet is a one size board if you like - not like the WT's. The magic carpet comes as 158x43cm. Other similar boards they have in different sized are the Smorgas board and Fridge door.
Goto the underground website and find there email address, email them and ask them what they think, tell them your weight, skill level and conditions. They may recomend something like a wide WT147, so 147x40 or 41 or something similar... One of there stock boards though I would say the smorgas board would be the go for an 80kg rider...
The underground guys are very friendly and approachable, don't be shy in emailing them.

Cheers
Callum
