Does anyone remember the Upski from the 80's?It was a kite that would pull you up the mountain and had a system for collapsing the middle kinda like a chicken loop does.I think they were started in France.

Yes, the UP-Ski was something... ca.55 m2!! When I first heard about power kites, I thougth they were joking with their 4-5 m2 pulling people! ...and upwind....?
Now I see why nobody uses them anymore.

UPSKI is still in business, they are actually able to go up 30-40 degree slopes at breakneck speeds!!! Check them out at upski.com
