Kite in Cesme-Turkey-review sept05

Postby luxkite » Tue Dec 20, 2005 10:23 pm

hello guys,
Just to let you know that kiting (without Mistral) in Alacati in Turkey may not be easy. The only place where it is allowed can be reached either by boat if you rent the Mistral club material or by car to get to the allowed place (at the opposite of the bay). Moreover the spot is not that cool and sometime dangerous (gusty wind). Positive point however, the guys at the mistral club(skyrider) are really cool but just don't want to take the responsibility (by getting you on the spot with their own boat) in case something happen. If you still want to get there you'd better call Chris at the local club to ask all the conditions and evolution of the rules there. That said, I was there the first two week of september and the wind was strong (but sometime gusty).
Experienced kitesurfer should go to Pirlanta (i'll put some pictures on kitebeaches). Nice place for kiting, even if quite isolated, and real kite atmosphere. Be careful ! strong wind there.... 8)

I was in Pirlanta/Kitesurfbeach this past July - and it is a VERY cool place to hang out! Husnu is a great host, the beach is nice and wide - and the atmosphere fun and "chill out".
It's about 15 minutes from downtown Cesme - also a very chic place to be!
Lots of accommodation options - from small, boutique-y hotels to large, all-inclusive, to self-serving apartments.
Day trips to Chios (Greece) are easy, as well.
Good choice for Turkey!
