One interesting item emerging from the poll is that the bows have already monopolized the "beginner kite" market. That's amazing, considering how much they still cost. Then again, I suppose that beginner riders that read this forum are serious about learning to kite, and they might accept higher prices than the average beginner.
Still, the trend is clear: when bow prices go down, the kiteboarding market for beginner Cs and foils will shrink to zero. Foils might still resist in the unpolled "trainer" area, just because it wouldn't make sense to have a 2sqm inflatable for use on the beach.

For what it's worth, I'm a beginner (just getting up and going), hoping to be intermediate by the end of the summer.
Have just traded my CO2s for Switchblades.
Why?
Safety, eg depower
Relaunch easier
More controllable on the water & wider wind range.
Very good deal to change
Collapsing value of C kites.

Bow/SLE. Waveriding. Maybe Speed. Like the idea of being able to modify kite perfomance through bridle mods. Also locking a bridle configuration for low wind may be possible on future SLE/bows. Cs are a configuration subset of bows/SLE.
Cheers,
Sascha

How about the same poll but by Brand. I think a 10,000 person moderately representative sample of Kiteboarders from around the world would be very interesting.
It would highlight whether aggressive marketing by (do I really need to name the brand?) works better than quality, innovation, reputation or time in the business.
Perhaps a separate post can come up with 4 or 5 brands to focus on...
