a heads up for anyone flying around europe etc with kite gear....DONT FLY IBERIA
Their policy is to charge all kite gear as excess luggage...even if it is your only bag at a minimum of 20kg at £12 per kg. So thats a minimum of £240 EACH WAY if you take a return flight. Strangely thats twice the price of my flight.....

That is pretty f'd up.
I flew with KLM from Athens to Cape Town with my girlfriend for a month so our regular allowance of two bags were over the top as it was at 45kg combined.I called in advance to check in an extra bag (naish golfbag at 20kg) and for the round trip paid only 40 euros.Whch to me was more conveniant than shipping it over unaccompanied and cheaper.And if it was instead of a my other piece of luggage there would have been no charge.
