Looking for good kite spots in July

Postby SurfboY » Wed Mar 29, 2006 7:42 pm

Hi, I'm looking for good wind spots where you have at least 85% change on 4bft or more, flat water or choppy and warm temperatures.

I found this already:

Fuerteventura: 95%, but I don't really like the reed in Correlajo - Sotavento is too windy sometimes

Egypt, I don't know? I think Egypt is a good choice for July?

Any other spots or more info is welcome! No spots too far away from Europe

thanks

Hi Surfboy!

How about Algarve in the south of Portugal?
July is a very good month, lots of sun, almost everyday of thermic winds (from 12 to 20 knots), +-40km of crowdless flat water lagoons (only reachable by boat) with ocean on the other side (walking distance) and a very good wave spot...
Check our website and if you need something send us an email. Check also the action report (small popup window) on the month of july, and see how many days we had good wind.
Good kiting. :thumb:

Turkey

Turkey is good, warm weather, flat sea, its the meditterranean after all, sometimes a little bit of chop but would be good fun, cheap accommodation, food and transport.

Check these 2 sites out.

Happy searching

july is always a good time to go to Brazil, north east coast of Ceara is a great spot, it's the begining of the season, goes on until December/January!

Here's 3 spots that should give you an idea of what you can get, Cumbuco, Paracuru and Prea on kitebeaches.com

Info on Prea : http://www.kitebeaches.com/kitebeaches/ ... hp?id=1173

Hey Surfboy,

As Belgian and not involved in any sales I would advise Rhodos.
I have been there last year in august for 14 days and used my 14m for 10 days (I am 105kg... so it is 12m wind for others). I could have use my 20m the other 4 days but was too tired (or lazy?)

Go to the Horizon Hotel (check Thomas Cook, or Jetair on their web site for prices) it is "half pensioen". The hotel is on a windsurfing spot but if you rent a bike every day in front of the hotel it is a 5 min ride to the kite spot where you can store your gear. Excellent warming up and when you ride back, the wind is in your back so it is relaxing.

If you can, take a bungalow "sea front".

The spot: very long beach, uncrowded, busy in front of the kite center but nobody 100m upwind.

Very nice and cheap for what you get.

Cheers

Frank

Just to answer one of your questions,
YES... Egypt will be rockin'... have a look at Colona in Hurgahda, or on the other coast, the Ramada Hotel in Ras Sudr... both top top spots.

Isn't the KPWT happening in Paros Greece around that time?
For those moments when you are off the water and need a little bit of inspiration.
TBH I have never been before as I work the summer months on Zakinthos, but friends who go every year rave about Paros as a good windsurf spot and now kitesurf(changed last year).
Have a good holiday.
Regards Rory

Thanks all for the info! Well if I had to choose I would take Egypt, looks very windy in that period. But it's not me that is choosing... :(

Vilaprea, I'll probably go to Brazil with New Year! Or Venezuela, we'll see! :thumb:
