Is there wind in playa del carmen in mid april!

Postby waynepjh » Mon Mar 06, 2006 5:12 pm

I am thinking of planning a trip to playa del carmen in mid april and was wondering if there typically is any wind that time! Any reply would be great.

Go to the north shore of yucatan, constant wind, cancun an playa are great places, nigth life, blue water but no wind like many places in the caribean¡¡¡¡ but Cozumel gets some wind, way more than cancun or playa, I would say coz is a good spot... I kite in the north shore of yucatan in progreso, rigth now (march-april) we are having from 18-25knot normally, sometimes 30knots, and sometimes 16-17knts... But I always forget how was the wind during the rest of the year so I cant tell you other months

If you stay on the Yucatan Mainland, you only ride one wind direction. Cozumel is the best place because there are so many places to ride on both sides of the island. Country Club and Lagoon are great for beginners and intermediates. Punta Norte is epic during the Norte storms. The "Other Side" gets great waves and is only a 15 min drive. The town is a lot of fun and there are no big crwods on the water or the beach. I have a condo available for rent at the Country Club if you want more info.

Cancun is great for Kite => isla Blanca !

Postby franck-IKS » Fri Jan 19, 2007 12:54 am

I Agree Cancun is excellent ! Good wind condition, constant, sunny, sea side protected by a reef, a lagune side ... the kite near Cancun is in Isla Blanca. 20 Minutes north from Cancun !

That's honestly the best location you will found arround cancun !

These guys above are newbies and on the ocean side of the road where the water is choppy. If you want the good flat water of the lagoon go with the people who have been there a long time everybody knows them, Ikarus Kiteboarding they have a shop in Playa Del Carmen, or check their website. Google: kiteboardmexico.com. Foca and Adriana are the owners. I am not affiliated with them just my opinion
