Can you camp on the dunes at Ainsdale? The lads from Morecambe / Alonby / Newcastle / Redcar are planning a trip down for the weekend at Easter if it warms up a bit. One of our number went running on the beach there the other week and said it looked good for a trip. Any of the Ainsdale lot want to comment? We could try and organise and impromptu down wind race or something??

Hi Rich.
It'd be real good to see you guys coming over. There is camping in the area, there is a tailormade campsite - part of the caravan club, 1 mile from the beach.
There is a pontins right where we kite so that might be worth checking, literally on the beach.
Un official camping is at your own peril, but I dont think you will encounter any problems.
The land is English Nature and so is private - but who will know you are there ? just dont ride any quads thrugh the dunes.
Keep in touch, we will come and meet you no probs. it'sd be a good laugh.
Tomorrow I will post extensive pics of the spot for you.
You can mail me on

..yep spoke to the NE runner when was down..I think he was on his way to Fuerte( not running!).The beach gets opened up at Easter so we can access our Summer spot from then on. The beach is actually owned by Sefton where we go it's Englsh nature further down.Camping (tents)on the beach would be likely to get you moved on..but in a van doesn't seem to be too many problems..apart from boyracers screaming down the beach in the dark and ploughing into you.
Phil are you on the rig we can see from the beach? Any chance of a coffee if we make it out there...and a lift back
A

Went down to Ainsdale the other dayand it looked class but didnt have my kit. Went yesterday with my kit and knocked a hole in the sump of my car at Birkdale!!!(rushing to get to ainsdale after seeing the wind) Nevermind, easter is on, should be aroud 15-20 of us, probably camp somewhere and have a night out in sunny Southport!
Phil - get your lot sorted - could have an impromptu downwinder or somet then a mass piss up in Southport. Start the season off as we mean to go on!

well we had a wicked 'end of season'all night party on the beach with 'disco' BBQ and beer ..sleeping over in cars/vans...perhaps we should think about a 'start' of season one? Not that any of us recognise any sort of 'season'.
