Flysurfer is introducing their new TITAN foil on this fair.

It is a kite between the Psycho and the Warrior. It will not replace the Warrior and no Warrior2 is planned (at least not for this year)

So this will be the 2003 models:

Maniac - trainer, beginner
Warrior - pressureless intermediate
Titan - intermediate
Psycho - high pereformance

The new Titan has very interesting innovations:

FS has patented this new idea, which is a channel at the back of the kite, where the air flows through. This way the kite will be more stable and avoid front stalls.
It doesn't loose power when you want to jump, since the lines will be pulled at a jump and then the channel will be blocked to keep the air under the kite for flotation.

At the tips you can find an outlet for water, if it got some inside. This will be closed, due to bending it, when laying on the water to avoid water going inside the kite

here the inside of the Titan. See, how much work is inside:

The Titan has been created for kiters, who like the advantages of a foil but want a performance close to a tube kite.
First impressions are very positive, even from tube riders who tested it a very light winds on land. Further tests have to show its performance.

Toby,

do you know what is the wind range for the Titan 12,5?

Now, what are the main advantages of the Psycho with respect to the Titan?

Thanks,

Rodrigo.

As one of the flysurfer designers i have to add something to the thread to make things a bit more clear. the JET FLAP system uses the airflow to create more power with the same wing area.
This means: when the flaps are pulled too much, normally the kite or glider gets into the stall, the power decreases rapidly. The JET FLAP uses the high pressured air (when the flaps are pulled) on the bottom wing right in front of the flap and manage the airflow to run towards the topsail. due to a real jet shape the air gains more speed whilst running through the slit. when entering the top sail the air has a lot of energy and provides the stall. the kite or glider is able to fly with higher angles of attack, this creates of course more lift (about 20%). aircrafts use this technology for quite a long time and we have developed this now for flexible wings.

looks a bit like a jellyfish, so now flysurfer makes a kite that can jellfish as well as a LEI so thats how they managed to get the same performance!

hi Toby,

planned sizes of the TITAN:

4.5 - 6.5 - 9.5 - 12.5 - 15.5

i am not able to tell you about weight and wind range so far because only the 9.5 is tested for some time now. The only thing which seems to be obvious at the moment: the TITAN flies at incredible low winds and the depower is more or less the same as the Psycho has.
This is for the 9.5 but no reason why it should not be the same on the other sizes.

hope that helps,

Manfred

Hai Manfred,

Why didnt you call your new wing F-104.

I hope it will not become a Widdow maker

like the Original.

Congratulations ! Good wing !

I tried it in Laax.

Go on like this, you are on the right way !!

Cheers

Manfred
