where o where for waves and warmth...

Postby Kite Brazil » Thu Aug 03, 2006 6:12 am

The Caribbean has pretty good waves this time of year! And you may not even need a wetsuit!

Take a look at Cabarete or St. Croix - both excellent choices! And there are non-stops to both destinations from Miami.

Cheers!

In the winter, the waves are really good at Encuentro (wavespot) in Cabarete, Dominican Republic. For waveriders this definitely is a great spot and wintertime the best time of the year. The spot is beautiful and relaxed and Cabarete is a great town. Normally we have from December to April around 70 / 8% of the time wind, sometimes strong (20 - 27 knots), sometimes lighter (14 - 19 knots).

We have apartments at Encuentro (we are the closest to the spot), so if you need more info, just send me an e-mail (info@hookedcabarete.com ).

Then why is it that Cabarette is not listed in the "windy destination by month" post from september to march?
wintertime the best time of the year.

The best wind in Cabarete is in from June to September. But this means almost every day 20-25 knots. During the rest of the year it is still pretty good. In October/November it normally is a bit down, but still mostly about 4 out of 7 days wind; in December it picks up. Last year from half December on we had great wind. For example in January and February several weeks of non stop wind. And wintertime is the best for the waves. In summertime sometimes also nice ones, but in wintertime there are almost always waves and many times really nice ones, sometimes world class.

I'm also considering Shacks in P.R.,but the D.R. sounds more edgy and fun just not too crazy about crowds :bye:
I'm thanking you all ahead of time ,j

Encuentro (wavespot) is never crowded. Kitebeach can be crowded in high season, but in the period you are coming not too much.

If you need more info about Cabarete, Encuentro or accommodation (Hooked is located at Encuentro), you can always send me an e-mail (info@hookedcabarete.com).
