Has anyone tried the naish x2 20, north rhino 22.5 or f-one mach 1 18.1? I'm after a kite that will get me planing in 8 knots on a small wakeboard, and ripping in ~ 10-12 (i weigh ~ 86 kgs). Is the x2 20 or f-one mach 1 faster than the north 22.5 and does it have comparable power to the north? I've heard that the 22.5 rhino is one of the best big kites on the market, but people tell me that the mach 1 18.1 gets going in 6 knots. I find this hard to believe seeing that i fly a 12.2 airush lift (15.1 f-one equivalent) and i need 15 knots to get going well with this, holding it up to ~ 30 knots.
Cheers,
Matt

the Mach1 18.1 has the power of an ARX 15.5.
or Rhino 16. So if you want it bigger the Rhino 22.5 is not bad. Don't know about the X2 20.0, but I guess better than Rhino 22.5.
But no real big difference between 16 and 20 sqm.

Personally start surfing out in 6+ "mph" with the mach 18.1 (70kg / TT-174cm).
Can't use this kite higher than 20 mph.
no idea for the two other kites you refer.

My 15.1 F-One Mach 1 starts at about the same wind as my old Naish AR5 15.5 so I presume that the 18 Mach 1 will start in considerably lighter winds.

It´s actually funny how the power of the wind dies when you go down enough in wind speeds. I mean that 4-5 kts wind and a 19.5 ArX will not give you any power while 6-7 kts gives allready some and 10 kts really delivers. To get the low wind limit even lower, I think that you have to go up to 30m2 kites or something. I have hard time believing that there will be any kites or whatever that will really deliver power in 5-6 kts winds. At least it is quite impossible to restart in under 6 kts.

Mach1 15.1 starts when a Rhino 16 starts.
airblast 11.8 (16m2) needs more wind.
Mach1 18.1 will definitely start much earlier than a Rhino 16 or ARX 15.5!
Good luck!

As I wrote earlier, 6+ MPH was enough to get me going with a Mach1 18m, while on that specific day, a 15m Black Tips & a 15m Mach1 were still on shore waiting for stronger winds.
But I certainly agree that in such low winds you will not engage high jumps (small ones hardly), and definitely not restart the kite from water.
Take care,
j.

maybe you are right, but I had the feeling that the 15.1 had less power than the ARX 15.5. But looks like I'm wrong. I have to try the 18.1 one day to know myself. But it should be faster than the 15.5 ARX.
maybe that is the advantage towards the Rhino 22.5, which isn't as fast as the Mach1.
And the size difference isn't that much difference in starting earlier. Than it is better to have a faster kite.
I just experienced it with my ARX 15.5. I had good power with it, but since it is so slow I decided to use my X2 12.0 and I had a great time, which my 15.5 couldn't give me.
