Kiting Parrish Park-Titusville, Florida...any info?

Postby Jaco » Wed Dec 13, 2006 9:36 pm

Hey There,

Anyone have any info on Parrish Park in Titusville, Florida?
I'm only familiar with Cocoa Beach area.

Hows the launch? Best wind directions? Shallow? Crowded?

Any other general photos or pictures would be most appreciated!!!

Many Thanks!

(I am an experienced kiter)

Parrish Park is a great place to ride if the wind is right. The launch spot is the beach area on the other side of the bridge. You can ride here in almost any wind direction except for NW which is strait onshore. It tends to be gusty here if the wind is below 15mph or anything out of the west. It is best on a strong SE wind which is offshore. The river is about waist to chest deep depending on the tides. Also, you need to stay well east of the island for the shallow water if you need to walk. The images show the shallow area in green, deep in red, and launch in blue.

The only time i have trouble with the launch is on SE winds since the wind is coming over the road. The best thing to do on SE winds it to water launch.

There are only a few kiters that ride here and I have never been there when there too many riders. It can get crowded in the summer with jetskis and people fishing.

Also, bring water shoes because there is some funky stuff out there!

Hey bro,
Thanks for all the info on parrish park! I'm going to be in orlando over the chirstmas holiday and am looking for alternative riding locations. I am familiar with the area, but not with the kite spots. How's parrish on an East wind?

Where are the main popular spots? I'm looking for a spot that isn't too crowded, but i dont want to be the only rider out there. Where do you ride most of the time. What's to be had on the beach?

Many Thanks for all the help!

-Jaco

It’s alright on an East wind but it needs to be over 18mph. Anything under and it is really gusty because of the road.

You can ride Playa Linda which is about another 10min past Parrish Park or you can go to Cocoa Beach. There are a lot of spots in Cocoa and if you just walk out to the beach you should see other people riding. I live in Orlando and I usually only go to Parrish Park or Cocoa Beach.

Hey...i rode parrish yesterday on a nice SE wind. What a good time. Nice group of people and good spot. Shallow and butter flat. I'd like to go back. However the likley hood of SE wind is pretty slim in the next week. So when you mention the other directions, how "gusty" is gusty? West wind doable?

Thanks

You can ride that spot in almost all directions. It's not too gusty, if you have a bow, you'll have no problem riding there.
