Please note that riders should not play with their bridles unless the fully understand the consequences of their actions. Bridles control the kite and allow the depower security to work.

From what I understand, some diehard 1:1 fans that like the feeling of the HD kite over a bow wanted to get better feedback and range from the kite. I haven't tried it personally yet, but it would be nice to hear some feedback from those that try the stock 1:1 setup back to back with the Mod.
I can guess from the drawings that we can expect quicker but less pivot steering, more feedback from the control bar, larger wind range, and less travel on the bar in order to depower. What's nice is that it's a relatively simple mod that doesn't require any extra parts or hacking away at the original bridle. That means that the original 1:1 or 2:1 configuration can be restored easily and that the kite now flies in three separate configurations (provided that this mod works well...).
I'm looking forward to some end user feedback.

I just made the mod to a 7m Omega we use for lessons. Now if we could get some dang wind I could let you know how it works for us.
It was very simple. Toby's instructions are spot on. They seem long, but it is just because they are thorough.
If this ends up being like a Switchblade 2 with Omega construction that would be great. If it ends up like a Switchblade 3, even better!
Interesting to note that the mode on the rear lines reminds me of Panchito's Ozone Instinct '06 mod.

Did the mod today on a 9m Omega.
The winds were light and I was underpowered but the difference in feeling was big. Steering was direct with very fast response. The kite was turning a little faster than the original 1-1 mode. I liked it.
The question is, is this mod approved by Cabrinha? Is it safe with one attachment point not connected (TP-6)? Other than that the kite performs ok. I did it on my own risk and i'll keep it for more testing.
One more thing,
Perfectly trimmed on a forth knot, same distance from the 2nd and 3rd knot.

what is the source of this mod? who is the "inventor"?
what are disadvantage / advantage of disabling the double pulley?
andreas
PS: too bad there is no wind today in cabarete, otherwise I would try the modification out on my omega 12 which I only like to ride without the bar pulley.

Hi Everyone, the mod does not come from Cabrinha nor will they embrace it. The fact is that Cabrinha r&d is working on new products and not exisiting products.
Nonetheless, I had Paul Menta, an instructional team rider very close to the brand, try the mod and so far so good. The winds in Key West are super light right now, so a good test of the wind range has not been completed, although relaunch seems to be the same while the turning is quicker. I have trusted people that can give the mod a good run for the money in a full range of winds, so I can't emphatically back this mod until the right people give me the thumbs up. Hopefully I will get good news in the next day.
It's important to note that I do not work for Cabrinha r&d and I have not personally riden a kite with the mod yet. I should have more info to post in the next couple days from my own team, but it would be good if users that have tried this mod will post their own experiences (i.e. how easy is it to do, how does the kite steer differently, is the wind range changed, how is the relaunch, etc...) so that we can all get a general feel for the performance. Thanks everyone for the comments that you have posted so far. No wind here in Miami until Wednesday...
Todd

Ok, test day no2.
Today the wind was 18 average gusting around 24kn so there was plenty of power. The basic change is the feeling and responsivness. Steering is very direct, the kite responds pulling slightly with a finger so basicly turns easier with less bar input. Better for advanced kiters. It pivot turns less when the bar being pulled all the way.
Depower range on the bar is something between 2-1 mode and original 1-1 mode.
I also had my first go on the new Custom today. This board has unreal pop and edge. Anyone interested for more info, feel free to pm me.
