Review Naish Torch08 9.0 2008

Postby Mo » Mon Aug 20, 2007 11:27 am

Review for Naish Torch08 2008 9.0

Times tested: 6-10
Range: 14kn to 33kn

Good: Solid construcion. Good low end and good high end. Nice pop and boost. Light bar pressure. SMOOTH LANDINGS.

Bad: Although the 2008 bar looked awesome, but I prefered last year bar for reason I don't know. Just something really insignificant!

Review: I had the chance to try my new Torch 08 9m last weekend. The Saturday session was little wind. I started with the kite and the wind was like 14 to 17 knots. I had to work the kite and immediately noticed that you can generate good power that would keep me upwind easily. The other three kiters were all on 12m kites. So, was happy with the low end. In the afternoon, the wind picked up like 20 knots and I was amazed how easy was this kite in doing tricks. I did all my usual tricks fronts, backs, raileys, unhooked raileys, kiteloops, downloops in the same session. The kite looped with power. Not little and not enormous. Just what we need to feel the pull of the kite and land peacefully. The kite had very nice boost. The thing that I liked the most is how much the landings were smooth. I was landing all jumps and loops perfectly. You can feel if you wanna more power and you always know where the kite is. Bar pressure is less than last year. Similar to the 2006.

On Sunday, the wind was very stron and reached 30+. I was riding the kite easily and the depower strap was half pulled but I could handle much more. when it went strronger, the jumps were not decented and went out on my Boxer SLE6m and continue my day!

Hi Mo,

As i understand it nothing has changed in the design but the construction is different. Have you noticed any differences in the construction?

Although i like the kites i think naish's 07 construction was definatly lacking, especially when you put them beside an ss or f-one kite.

Hi,
I`m curious to know about the new T`s either so Mo pls.keep posting your findings....
Construction wise -I totally disagree with woodfu. Naish kites are wery well build according to my experience /keep in mind that I don`t compare brands and etc./

Regards
L.

The kite is very similar to 2007. BUT there is more power in the loops and the shape of the kite is different. I will ty to put two images and you can see easily that the 2008 9m Torch has a wider wind span than 2007. I don't know how to post pictures ut I will try.

Another difference is that the 2007 had tips that used to flutter. Although not affecting the performance but you can easily hear it On the 2008, youdo not hear this fluttering. I heard something on 2 kite loops out of tens. Honest report.

Coming to construction, it is a personal look through. I feel that Naish gives you what you need, not less, not more!

So the new 9m is flater than the old one, looks more like the 12m 2007, right?

Not much other than looks like it has a better low end and more powerful loops!
The relaunch was very easy.
