Kafka and Chavez Winners
Race night #8 was most interesting. Jeff Kafka (Cabrinha), the current leader of the overall Cabrinha Race Series was fulfilling his race committee responsibilities having already rapped up first place in the Cabrinha Mini Series #2 to go along with his first place finish in the Mini Series #1. As a result, Kafka loaned his race board to Chip Wasson (Ozone).
In the first race Anthony (Naish) stormed off the start line, was first to the all the marks and finished comfortably ahead of the pack. Wasson and John Gomes (Cabrinha) were 2/3 after the reaching mark, but Gomes exploded loosing his board, costing him 6 places. Meanwhile, Wasson fell on his way to the finish allowing Brown and Segura to pass and finish 2/3.
In the second race, it was Chip and then Anthony to the windward mark with the rest of the fleet close at hand. In fact, tonight was the closest racing we’ve seen to date. Not just between a few racers but the entire fleet has closed ranks on the leaders. At the finish it was Anthony, Chip and Gomes on his new 6’1â€Â
