Cumbuco crime

Postby MoC » Sat Sep 08, 2007 12:39 am

My local forums write about several robberies in Cumbuco. I was there last year and I didn`t see or heard anything. What I woundering about is if there are more now compare to last year. I am going to be there in end of oct to beginning of nov.
Now I have to be carefull and all that, but it sounds like it is more now....

it's Brazil, or like many other places around the world.
Be careful, don't show your "wealth", know what you do and where you go.
Preventing helps. But of course, everything can happen, no matter where you are.
e.g.: never had a problem in Cumbuco, but back in Germany they broke into my car and my kite bag with 7000 Euro gear never made it from Fuerteventura on a direct flight.

Shit happens.

specially November it is packed. Nowadays it is ok. But no matter what, I always have my fun on it...and if too full, there is still the ocean! And other places to do trips to!

"is ok!" i thought this is paradies... wind all the day and tropical feeling??!

what means packed??! so if i go there, this is not cheap, i dont want to go up and down and look the whole time for other kiters...

like this you are not going to learn anything...

somebody told me, that the sea at cumbuco sucks... really hardcore chop&hop... you can barely go upwind... is that true?! :?:

it depends what you like. If you don't like it, just travel up the coast until you find something you like!

For me it is all I need. The lagoon is full for sure. But I always have my fun. If you are not sure in what you are doing, better don't go there!
Cumbuco has choppy water, yes. Also depends where you ride there.
There is current.

You may check this, here you will find all info, pictures and videos, all to view, and make up your mind.

But there are so many other places where you can go in the world. The question is, if you find a spot that offers all you require for your money, including wind!

Always wind, warm, tropical. Yes.

I am travelling there at the end of November, with my wife and son
(Aged 9).

They are going there to learn to kitesurf, but I am concerned at where they will learn if it is very busy in the lagoons. I not think I would be keen on them learning in the ocean, especially if there are currents.

Can anyone if it will be suitable for beginners??? Toby??

Thanks

forget the currents, no problem.
Slightly side onshore, no sharks, warm water, lots of space on the ocean.
Perfect for learning, don't worry.

The lagoon will be PACKED in November. If you wake up early, you will always find space, and lighter winds, excellent to learn.

But during the day I would go onto the ocean, much better to learn when the lagoon is packed.

Cheers,

Mike

About the lagoons...

this is something I never understood, people flying a lot of distance to Brazil
to end up in the lagoons instead of the open sea.

Lagoons: small and flat water.
Ocean: waves and huge! ok cumbuco is crap for waves but there are
other places.

Eloico.
