The Mystic kite knife- double bladed & short handle

Postby kitezilla » Mon Sep 24, 2007 10:46 pm

This knife comes with the Mystic harness.

Does anyone have any experience with this knife?

I would like to know if the double blades cut lines as well as does the Jack knife.....and also, if the blades are stainless steel.

They can be purchased at:

This recent thread discussed the subject of kite knifes and the different possible locations in which to carry them:

This is the only double bladed, (and SHORT) hook knife I have found. Has anyone located any other short, double bladed hook knifes?

The Mystic knife is double bladed, stainless Steel and cuts lines like butter. I have had mine for 2 seasons and it is like new, no rust etc.

Mystic Knife Highly recommended.
Tough as nails with the Aluminium handle.

Also good for trimming electrical wire at home when you can't find your pliers ;-)

The next question to be researched is:

Are replacement blades available?

And, if so, then how much do they cost?

The replacement blades for some other hook knives cost as much as the brand new knife!! Why is that?

I hope the blades for the Mystic knife cost less than the complete knife.

They are only 6 GBP to buy new so I dont think I replacement blade is really an issue.

I have this knife and it does cut well. Where do you guys keep it though. The holster doesn't really hold it too well so right now I keep mine in my board shorts pocket. I don't know if I could pull it out quickly enough.

Airsurfer,

You are right that the holster does not hold it too well. A friend of mine put the holster on a harness web strap and promptly lost that beautiful knife!

I wonder if one could glue the holster onto the side of a helmet or onto the rubber of the wet suit in an accessible position (like over the heart)?

The webbing loop at the back is too small to fit over my harness webbing so I could not find anywhere sensible to fit it. I ended up putting it over a mini strap a bit too far out of reach. The knife also fell out and was lost ... twice.
