Yep, Eilat was nothing special. Wind was gusty, from 8 - 16 on Thursday, and 10 - 18 on Friday, with a bit of decent wind on Friday morning, of which we caught only about 30 mins...
Caution kites were tested, both the 12 and the 15m. They are both very fast turning, stable, etc etc... well built, etc etc, like all the 2003 kites. The bar came with the lines attached - nice, no work to set up, but unfortunately the kite was not properly tuned, and flew too far back in the window... a bit of tuning fixed that.
As you can imagine it was not really that fun in the gusty conditions, but when a good gust came in and lasted for about 5 - 7 minutes, the surfing was nice. What can I say, I am not one to right crap like it is the best kite in the world, never falls, blah blah blah..., but, it is very well built - on a level with the rest of the 2003 kites. The bar is carbon, light, but it has no quick release on the chicken loop and the leash is a bit short, and needs to be lengthened, so yes, like most kites around, it is not perfect, but I did manage to track back into the beach a few times, when all the locals were loosing ground and coming in at the Coral beach and further South, due to the unstable conditions, so I can say that the kite handles very well in gusty conditions, although I can't say it is much fun working it hard when the wind drops to 10 and below!!!
You all want to hear about jumping, but unfortunately with the unstable conditions, no one was doing much of that. During one of the better gusts I did manage to get in a few decent jumps, with the 15m on Thursday and with the 12m on Friday, and one thing that I noticed more than anything else is the speed that the kite comes back. The first time, I was so surprised, that I landed with a lot of speed - Quite fun!!
The bag is super solid - very cool. All the rest, well come see for yourselves...
