kitesurfers use a paraglide-like kite for their dance in the water which takes them up to 20m high into the air.

Already within world championships in the past year Silke had been hurt. She got her own board slammed at the head. The champion said at that time: "I've been brieflie in the hospital, but they sewed that fast.

On the German Chanel "RTL" today there should be a story about the accident and about Kitesurfing - it starts round about 19.10 o´clock (German Time). Maybe you can see it?
In the german kitesurfing - forum under
"www.kitersurfing-kiel.de" a lot of people talk about the accident. One who was there in
Eastern Germany posted that the kitesurfing-area wasn´t very good: 50 m downwind there was a "highseat" for rescue people, Silke missed it by some meters, about 20 meters outside the competition-area there was a small wood/metal-island for swimmers.

The person also said, that the Pros trained a day before at another spot under the same bad conditions and trained handelpasses and other stuff and a few of the Pros had so much problems that they had to let there kite flow away to the beach where families and a big crowd stood. One of the Pros went out of the water, took his kite back to the water and while some people asked him if that kind of sport under these wind-conditions would be to dangerous for him and themselves he looked angry and very pissed and went on doing his tricks.

A person posted there at the german http://www.kitesurfing-kiel.de that he will try to put the RTL-movie online.
