I have just started doing this, and think its quite a good idea, unless someone can tell me otherwise.
When packing up my kite, I pull the chicken loop quick release ( I have a Cabrihna - I dont think this matters too much)
so that the chicken loop stays on my harness - hooked in.
The benefit to this is that I am getting to regularly pull my quick release , which is making me more aware of where it is and how it works - and that I am ensuring that it is not clogged up with sand and salt. ie it works!!
Another bonus to this is that when I roll up my lines - I dont have a chicken loop to get in the way of things on the bar - so its much tidier.

Excellent Idea!
That won't work for all kites but it does work for you.
Kudos!
