Cabarete - Kite Lounge / Extreme Hotels

Postby Lem » Fri Jan 18, 2008 9:04 am

Anyone here stayed at either of these places recently?

The reason I ask is that the missus and I are booked in at the Kite Lounge in just over 2 weeks time. Having originally been told which room we were staying etc., I shot off an email yesterday enquiring about current conditions so I could pick which kite to pack.
I got a prompt and informative reply together with; by the way we're now at the Extreme Hotel down the road.

Fair enough I guess, but it would have been nice to have known earlier. (If I hadn't asked would we have only found out when we landed?)
The missus was quite keen on making use of the kitchen area at Kite Lounge and the smaller place did have more appeal. On top of this, whilst reviews for Kite Lounge are mainly very positive, those for Extreme Hotel range from excellent to grim.

The latest pics of the Kite Lounge suggest that they may have been bought by Extreme (the front facade of the building now features their web address)

Any info from recent travellers would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

I went to Cabarete last June and it was closed.

It seems the Kite Lounge boys have taken over the Extreme Hotel, and the original Kite Lounge is to be demolished.

Well.. I'm staying there in two weeks time. I'll probably be able to tell you more when I get back!

The Kite Lounge has moved back to the eXtreme hotel, and we are open again... we hope to maintain the positive vibe from the Kite Lounge and bring it back to eXtreme.

Hi Toby and all you others,

Yes eXtreme has reopened under new management as of Jan 1st. For those familiar with the Cabarete Kite scene the place is now under Kite Lounge management. That means Sven, Robbie, Vlad and the handful of others that made it go round and round are now running the hotel.

Everyday we work together to make the place as good as it used to be and improve on some of the things that weren't. Toby I don't mean to spam but check out the website we are just putting the last touches on.

We are all here should you have any questions....

Cheers and good winds,
Vlad

Wow, you guys put all that work and effort into the old "Windwing" building, and now back to Extreme?

Is the skateboard pipe still in place?

Where ever you go, I'm confident it'll be fun and 1st class..

Gracias Kitegrommet,

It was a lot of work in the old kite lounge, but the opportunity to come back 'home' was well worth it. The work has helped solidify the team.

The skate ramp is open, and the fun is back!

Hey Lem,

We look forward to your arrival and hope you like our new spot we sure do!

It's the same vibe that people seemed to love over at our old spot just with a bigger and better pad.

The pool is up and running and looking blue, the ramp is alive with the sound of wheels on wood and the occasional crash, and the bar is occupied by kiters waiting for the wind and travelers telling tales of days gone by.

The sky is sunny and the wind should kick in Sunday and the wave are forecasted at 2.6m so we are all looking forward to a good week.

Cheers,
V
