Hello,
I am going to take a plane(Cebu Pacific) from Manila to Caticlan (Boracay) to go kitesurfing.
I was wondering if anyone had ever flown on this flight with kite gear because I want to know how many kilos of kite gear I can bring with me.
Thanks
Davide

I haven't flown MAN to Caticlan with Cebu Pacific, but have done with the other 3 - SEAir, AsianSpirit and Air Philippines - basically they allow you 20kgs if you have flown into MANILA from an international flight (otherwise the domestic allowance is only 10kg) - so, they might ask to see your International ticket (same deal on departure) ...
Anyway, they will probably get you to pay some excess baggage fees, but they are not expensive - I think it is around 50~60 pesos (40peso's = us$1) ... we just paid something like 1,100pesos ($28) for 18kgs over-weight ... try haggling the actual weight down.
Anything else you want to know ? - just spent 35 days there (4th trip)

Buzz has it covered.
With all airlines to Caticlan, you will be charged an excess.
But the charge per kilo is very very reasonable, nothing like an international carrier.
Just consider it part of your airfare.
But as with all travel, just pack sensibly.
Ditch your toiletries, towels etc. They are all available on the Island.
Do you really need three pairs of jeans?
Shoes? Take a single pair and wear them, you'll not wear them again until you leave Boracay!
It's a sandles only zone!

hi . You may book your flight thru
http://www.flyseair.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. They are soo used tohandling kite and large windsurf equipments... If you think you have excess luggage, (you are given 20KG within 24 hours upon overseas arrival...) just send it by cargo (travels with you of course) and rate /kg is only OhO 11/kg... or US$ 2.80/kg than US$ 10 if excess luggage if checked in with you... Cargo is right beside the entrace to the check in so it is a few steps away....
Our Hangin Kite Center and other member kiteschools are organizing kite safaris 2-4 hours off Boracay to uninhabited islands for camping over night or 3 days..depending on the request of customers.... Very exotic spots and yo will just love it... check it out when you get here...
By the way you also have to register (PhP 600) in any BWA (local association of kite and windsurfers) member schools to park your equipments or use the servidces of kite caddies and station facilities... This is a must, otherwise no private kiter will be allowed to use the bay without this requirement.....This is to regulate the growing population and to make it safe for all beach users...This will also help the locals clean up the windy beach and support if accidents happen....
Welsome to our island of Boracay and enjoy kitesurfing in Asia's Mecca!

your membership will go to our common fund which is used for our beach cleaner salaries and tools, local beach police, projects, and most of all for emergency fund to use in case of emergency.. Our BWA just paid a portion of the Russian that had a accident with a windsurfer on a very windy day blowing 30 kts... BWA and members were responsible for sending them to the hospital in the main prvince for surgery and other treatment with huge assistance from the provincial government..
