I actually used the Mako Wide for the very first time in the La Ventana Classic, I can't really help you in how it performs as a light wind board but I know I am definately getting one. The board is fast, really fast, almost impossible to pearl and rides soft as hell. since i raced with it i really didn't load it up or anything but man I really enjoyed it that day. Fantastic board.
There are difinately better ultra light wind boards out there but with major downsides.

I can't wait to try one. My 150 mako will get me up in 15knots with my 10m rise so i'm sure the wide will cruise in anything remotely kitable

So right- ride a Mako and your gonna pimp it.
Only saw a Mako Wide at Bellingham Kiteboarding- it has a flatter more constant rocker than the 150 surf. It should be really fast.
If i had the money i would have bought one.
Been on the Mako Surf for 3 years.

Good in the surf, good in the chop, good at high speeds, and good light wind performance. I liked the mako wide quite a bit more than the regular for the light wind/wave performance. You will NOT be disapointed with this board!!
From the banks of the Yukon River....
