What's the best line to connect the safetyleash to? A backline or a frontline or doesn't realy matter? I heard different stories from several people, but one says front and the other back..

I've f-one mach1 kites and can connect de leash to a frontline or backline

I have mine at the backline, no problems so far.
Naish X2 and Wipika AB have them at the frontline.

Don't know which one is actually preferable.

I have safety attached to the front line. I judge it better in case you need to fully depower the kite down in strong wind. The leading edge will stay than to the right side. But at the end not real difference.
Having the safety in the fron line force you to have a longer base ropes so you can attach to one fron line only! With the North inexisting base ropes this is not possible. That's why Wipika release with the front line security leash and North with back line security leash.
Keep in shape

It doesn't exist a better point for the safety line. The only think to know is you use only 1 mainline. If you have a takoon kite or a wipika kite with bridles we are OBLIGED to use a safety line to a front line. In an another case the wing turn and turn with a lot of power. If you are not able to choose use a front line to attach your safety line. Good wind

For a simple but effective System you guys should check: kitesurfing-kiel.de , tips&tricks, safety einfach und sicher.

German text but a lot of pictures, should be no problem.
Steuerleine=steeringline/back line

The third picture shows a front line solution.

By the airblast is the leash attached at the frontline because of the bridle. If you use the bridle and a leash at the backline in won't work properly.

i've connected my leash to the snapshackle so i think i connect the leash at a front line..

Yes Tim a made this system, i used rings instead of only knots

thx,

i think its better to make it with 2 equal sized rings, one ring at the end of a leader and one ring at the end of the leash. Then you pull the line through the ring at the end of the leader and connect it to the ring of the leash.

I think the system Uipko said is the best, friends of me and I use it and it works wery well.It works better on back line just because when you leave your bar the kites depowers totally and is a bit harder to tangle the lines. You can use two rings or even a ring and a ball

yeah a ball instead of a ring is even more nice. Good point that the leash connected to the backline will tangle less than on one of the depowerlines. And why do you think the kite depowers totaly on one of the backlines and not on the frontline?? Did you test it or is it just a theory?
