the one that so many locals are concerned about?
concerned that its flimsy?
the one that the dredger is ALWAYS
working around?

If the driving on sand ban goes very far at all
Its just a sign that elected officials there
are soooooo lazy, that they would prefer
to take on an apparent cakewalk-no-brainer,
"this will make me look good to more people" task,

rather than take on an expensive, complicated,
unpopular, and entirely necessary task

If you haven't been to Hatteras you have no business commenting negatively here. Hatteras and the friggin plovers will be fine with 4x4 access allowed in a reasonable way, like it is today.

Like Vin says, the Pea Island/Bonner Bridge bridge issue is what really needs to be resolved...

again, you're missing the point. you don't have to live on the OBX to understand the problem they are currently experiencing is spreading everywhere. today the enviro-freaks want to prohibit driving on those beaches, tomorrow they will want to prohibit kiting on those beaches, and the next day it may be they target your beach. banning driving on OBX beaches may not seem like the end of world to you, but its impact on OBXers is major, so maybe ...bud out? I don't think the folks in OBX are looking for help from our socialist friends across the pond anyway.
