Naish X2 Sizes, need help again. (Toby have a look)

I'm still not sure which X2 sizes I should get. I used the classical combos of kites usually: Naish 7.5 - 11.5 - 15.5 or Wipika 11.8 - 8.4 - 6.3 so far.

For lighter winds I use the Flysurfer Warrior 16.5, because I don't like big tubes.

My problem is, what kite sizes should I get. Maybe, you guys out there, can help me.

My thoughts for the X2:
(no size bigger than 16 is rule number 1, no size smaller than 8 is rule number 2)

1.) 16 - 12 - 8
Good classical combo. Problem: I don't like the 7.5 Naish AR5, but I am used to fast kites (Airblast 6.3). When you would need the 8, it would be maybe better to not use an X2 at all (safety).

2.) 16 - 12 - 10
The 12-10 doesn't make sense on the first, but then I would say that when you need a kite smaller than 10, I wouldn't go kiting anymore.

Main kiting spots: Silvaplana with some of the steadiest winds you can get for 16-12 sizes.

I basically only need a smaller size for vacation (mainly Fuerteventura Flagbeach), where winds don't get too strong. How to maximize my time on the water?

My board: Litewave 148 with bindings

Why don't you consider an intermediate kite for the smallest kite.

At Yahoo a guy has X2's in bigger sizes but loves his Toro's in smaller sizes.
More then once I read the remark that X2's <10m are way to fast to have fun. This remark also came from a dutch professionel(2nd best of the Netherlands)

I got a Toro8 and really love it. I have as comparison a AB2001 6.3/AB2002 6.3 and my "previous" Rhino9.3

In "big" sizes I would go for 2002AB's. What a difference compared to 2001AB's.

I have the X2 8 and 10 and find them to be super fun kites. The first day I rode the 10 I went upwind faster and further than I ever have. My jumps immediately improved, too. I don't know but I'm not experiencing any problems with the X2 being TOO fast. Someone else made a point that it might be wise to make your quiver of kites of the same type rather than mixing brands and types. I don't know~ food for thought, I guess. Like Meatloaf once said: "Anything will work if you let it!".

I have been using a 10 and 14 X2 for about a month. I previosuly owned a 7.5, 9.5 and 13.5 ARX.

The X2's main qualities are that they fly fast, turn fast and depower HEAPS. They have much more top-end range that the ARX because they fly to the edge of the window fast, and depower heaps.

I have found, that I have no desire to have an X2 smaller than the 10. I have used it in gusts to 35 without too much stress. It turns as quick as the old 7.5 and can probably be depowered to handle a similar max wind range.

The 14 is great, and you definately don't need a size in between. I have found that these kites have less low end grunt - but they can still generate heaps of power but only because they flay and turn quick. Previously, my bioggest kite was the 13.5. Now I hav and X2 (and smaller tray style board) I want a bigger kite than the 14). All reports are that the 20 is a sweet kite. I have heard quite a few times that it flys and turns as fast as the old 13.5 and can be depowered and ridden over 15 knots no probs. I am getting a 20, becasue I think a 16 and even an 18 are too close to the 14.

If you want 3 kites, I'd think about 10, 14, 20.

if you want two kites, I'd get 10 + 14, or even 10 + 16.

If you live in a particularly windy areas and want to kite in wind over 30knots regularly, then get an 8, 12, 18.

I weight 85kgs, and use a 4'11 Mutant and 139 Mojo.

Hi Robin,

DT sounds right, why not safe money and get the 10 and 14? Since you still have the Warrior 16.5 for light winds, you don't need a 16.
The 14 should have enough power for you to ride in winds starting at 10-12 knts.
The 10 flies great, not too fast, and I can hold it up to about 30 knts.

When it comes to kites -> brain works no more -> money doesn't count anymore...

I decided for the 16 - 12 - 10 so far. Why?
- Warrior 16.5 for light winds
- Size 12s (Naish 11.5s or Airblasts 8.4) are always the best flying kites, you need to have one of the size
- 16 for Silvaplana main wind's strength kiting (16s are usually also great kites)
- 10 for kiting until kiting makes no fun anymore (better go with your girl-friend and make some love

Unfortunately the sizes bigger than 12 are very rare in Germany.

Does that somehow make sense? I'm still not sure
