Cabrinha owners (and others too) check your line lengths

Postby alpower » Sun Jun 15, 2008 2:34 pm

Cab front lines stretch 2 to 3 inches more than the back in the first 2 or 3 sessions out and 5 to 6 inches over the first season. This spring I've advised at least half a dozen people to check their lines after watching their kites back stall with the bar pulled in. In all cases the front lines were 5 to 6 inches longer and most people had no idea what I was talking about. Several said it was like getting a new kite when they were fixed. This may be a problem with other manufacturers as well but I do know some manufacturers use pre stretched lines which eliminates the problem.

It takes 5 minutes to check but if you are flying a Cab you will have this problem. Hook the lines up to a solid object, with the bar pulled in all the way the lines should be an equal length. The easiest way to fix it is to isolate the back lines one at a time and stretch them to the same length as the front.

Did the check a few weeks ago. Both bars front lines stretched. Least used bar 15cm, most used 25cm!. Also, left steering line stretched too, and longer than right steering line, possibly because I usually jump and ride more agressive in one direction.

Attach it to something and pull as hard as you can. Takes about 10 minutes per line.

my contra's center lines were almost 5 inches longer, my cb3 which has had a fair amount of use were exactly the same length. I noticed the lines are different (orange instead of red), maybe cabrinha is aware of the problem and has corrected it for the newer 08 kites.

Hi, Can I just check to be double sure...
Should all the lines be the same length with trim all the way out (i.e. full power) and the bar pulled all the way in or out? just checked a friends bar and they are all the same length with the bar half way (trim all way out on full power)
Thanks

Cabrinha overdrive recoil bar if that makes any difference
