roadtrippin' spain/portugal/morocco

Postby denend » Thu Jun 12, 2008 1:43 pm

Hi everybody!

I am extremely trilled to tell you all, I am gonna quit my job next month, order new kites, get my boards and buggy and am leaving to spain/portugal/morocco with my van for five months.
The plan would be to enjoy portugal and spain for the summer and head off in september to morocco with as final destination dakhla...
All this with in mind, kiting and also a bit kiting :-)
For the moment am still travelling alone, but it would be cool to share all these moments with people that have the same goal..

Therefore: anybody with the same plan? or better, anyone coming?

greetz,

K

yeah dude it looks like you took my plan and decided to do it for yourself. minus the quitting of the job...
My brother and I will probably be cruising in a van packed with gear along the spanish, and Portuguese coast. We were thinking about going to Morocco but are having second thoughts.

We really dont have any set plan as some of our travels will depend on wind conditions..

We're also thinking about a trip to leucate, fr

You have any specifics planned out?

Way to go! Check out kitebeaches.com for lot of nice places to kite in Portugal. You have for all tastes (flat, waves, strong wind, light wind, etc). May to October the more consistent months for wind. In case you find yourself in one of those exceptional days without much wind but hot weather, check out Guincho. Perhaps we'll meet there - on weekends, that is. I also kite in Algarve's east coast during Summer vacation, lots of space but usually flat water and light wind - better than nothing!

Happy kiting,

BK

Sweet.. looking forward to it!

I want to meet with you guys down there.

Bill are you mostly in the guincho area?

We should all hook up down there and tear up the beaches in Portugal...!!

Hey Bill where is the portugal futbol team playing around the July 1 to the 10th...?

Hope they are in town then cause one of my main goals, besides kiting, is to see a Portuguese futbol game!!

Lets ride boys!

Tommy,

Yes, mainly in Guincho but also around Lisbon: Nova Vaga, Fonte da Telha, Lagoa Albufeira and Carcavelos for those West wind days.

As for football, I don't think you'll be able to attend a Portugal Team game: the Euro 2008 is played on Switzerland and Austria!

Don't worry: we have some nice places in Lisbon where people get together to watch the games, like Praça Sony in Parque das Nações.

Happy kiting,

BK

Hi guys,

To be more concrete, it would be like this..., offcourse it's never (and better) accurate.

11 -12 juli: belgium - molliets et maa (france)
12 - 20 juli: north spain: zarautz - bilbao (wavesurfing, maybe some thermic)
20 - 27 juli: north spain: bilbao - santander (incl. Pantano del Ebro (80% wind)
28 juli: viano de castelo -- esposende (from here we have nice spots and good wind)

From the it's a bit from day to day .. still 4 months to go... :D

7- august - murtosa, guincho, albufeira, andre, carcavellos, fonte de telha
end august - carrapateira - alvor - canoes de mecca - tarifa

september/october/november: morocco:

Oualidia lagoon
Essaouaria: Moulay Bouzerktoun / Sidi Kaouki
....
....
....
...
Dakhla :-)

Any suggestions remarks, or places where we can meet... I love to hear it!

greetz,

D

Hi Denend,

glad to hear you are following your dreams and are off to travel and live life! That's fantastic. I did the same thing and just got "back" (I am not going to stop) from my own journey through Central and South America with my kiteboarding gear. Here's my travelblog for anyone interested ... http://www.travelpod.com/travel-blog/gl ... /tpod.html

Anyways, I sent you an E-mail also. Not sure if you received it. Let me know. I am interested to possibly join you!

Hope to hear from you soon!

I just started to learn in this summer, but I`m sure I don`t want to stop:) from September I`m going to Portugal (Braganca) for 4 months. Where I should go to kite there as a beginner? I saw there are a few beaches up to the north too. Can you kiteboard until the wintertime?
hope to see you there
