Thad's guide for basic beginner board

This guide isn't really a guide because this board is so simple to make.

What you need.

- Ply wood Any type is fine, I don't even know what I used but I do know its not meant for sea water.
- Gorilla glue (two small bottle) Two separate bottles is critical
- Saw (jigsaw, table saw)
- Sander (you don't really need but you might get hurt with the sharp edges)


1) Cut plywood into two rectangles

2) Glue together
a) I found it easy to take the top off the glue, place the bottle upside down on top of the wood, and squeeze the glue onto the board. Smearing the glue around the entire board.
Remember this glue expands and is strong so you don't need that much. If you have never used the glue before I would experiment so you can see the expansion. Also don't forget to go around the edges.
You need to stack something on top of the board. I stacked a small fridge and some furniture.

b) After it is finished drying take your new bottle and seal around the edges with the glue. (similar to caulk)
This took me a few times to get it right. You cannot add to much, but it will bulk up on the edges quickly as it expands so use your judgment.

3) Now you can cut out the four corners. I used a jigsaw and made the cuts freehand without prior drawing.

4) Sand the edges. I ended up sanding the wood as well as the now expanded glue.

As you can see my bindings are not working out. They were nice for a day or so but they just do not hold up. I would recommend either buying bindings (which you could then use on a future built or bought board) or use a strap material. I pulled some strap material off of an old boat trailer which is similar to seat belt material. Not sure how this will work but I will try to bolt them to the boat somehow.

Sorry for mistakes on this posting, I just threw it up here because there is not a really fast board building guide. Also I did not paint this board. As you can see I tried but I gave up.

buy 1/2 Baltic birch ply wood...

It has 9 plys, and is use by Cabinet makers to make drawers

Why because it has no voids (what you were filling on the edges)

so, forget the two layer thing.

Do this spray down your drive way with hose, and place your cut out shape on the wet spot

and walk away....

Next day, you'll have rocker, put the straps on.....done

Yeah thats good, but you have to BUY something. I happened to have all this stuff laying around (including glue)

also if you have a table saw you can kerf the ends, flex them over something

and fill the kerf with glue= flip tips...
