that's freaking awful!
Freak accident, like most of them are, but..damn,... that's a new one!
Not to sound sick, but a video of that would be fantastic!
Everybody is ok., right?

thanks for sharing, happy everyone is alright!
Doesn't everyone has always the same thought launching someone?
I always think: don't let go! and make sure to have it secured.

I always think of launching someone's kite as a bit of a partnership. You saved him from a world of hurt (probably more than just him as it sounds) and yourself from the grief that would have come from it too. Nice work! I hope everyone takes launching as seriously as you do.

New mantra for handling potential disaster as a kite launch assistant: "DON'T LET GO OF THAT FRIGGIN KITE DON'T LET GO OF THAT FRIGGIN KITE"

Good job mate!
When I launch someones LEI or give a tip flip to a Peter Lynn Kite I take great care in making sure everything looks right. If I am in the slightest doubt I wont launch the kite.
At times the kiter I am launching will be a bit irritated...... once a guy gave ma a real bad look
and gestured repeatedly to launch his kite. Conditions were great, but something was wrong.
He had crossed lines on one side of the kite. Probably not an imidiate problem, but better to avoid trouble.
I think that the rush to go out and not doing a thourough pre flight test is one of the main causes of accidents. The way I look at it even a minor mistake is going to take more time to sort out than even the losngest pre-flight test.
Oh yea one other thing that pisses me off is guys that want to launch quickly when there are people to close by..... sorry I just won't launch anyone in those cases.

Just a normal day,,,
we're such kooks:
It's fairly common to bozo the launch around here, for example:
Just the other day, I was holding my buds kite and directed him to walk up wind, he said no It's good,
I said no it's not, he said f*** off just let the bitch go....
I said, ok fine, deal with it then...and he did....
just a normal day...
we're such kooks

He's prep, I take up the kite, there comes tension to the lines of one side as he moves - he got one backline wrapped around his leg..
How this happend ? The lines were loose on the sand ?
