A local TV series called Kick Start, sponsored by Maverick Gas Stations (found across Utah) aired an episode on Snowkiting last weekend.
The show is all about taking average people out of their mundane lives and 'Kick-Starting' some action into their lives. (Sounds like Judas Priest lyrics huh)
Heather and I had the pleasure of working with a full blown camera crew and spent a day up at Skyline training both the host and his guest on the ins and outs of Snowkiting. It was a beautiful Spring day just before the Ozone Snowkite Masters, with fresh powder and very light winds. (of course)
The funny catch is that they only had a few hours to film, yet they wanted us to go from ZERO to HERO (please don't sue me for using that term on this forum) taking two guys that had never heard of or seen kites before, and get them up and riding for the camera. Well it was a great example for how easy and difficult the kite learning curve can be. Our student with several years snowboard experience picked up the basics quickly and actually made a run up Bosco's Hill by the end of the day. Our host on the other hand, well, we enjoyed watching him flail as he ignored instructions and made funny comments at the camera. The host did learn the on snow belly drag!
Here is a link to the clip.... enjoy.
