Naish Cult for Wave Riding - Opinion and where to buy in EU

Postby stunaite » Mon May 12, 2008 6:41 pm

Hi.

I am leaving wavesailing to dedicate myself 100% to kitesurf (on waves). I am 75kg and ride a directional LiquidForce Rawson Quad 5'10".

I am really interested on a Naish Cult quiver. I am not sure about sizes

12+9+6m or perhaps 7,5+10,5m will be enough.

Can someone give me an unbiased opinion about waveriding with cults? Some help about sizes will be very helpful as well.

Once I live in European Union, where can I buy those kites at best price? I am waiting to hear some experiences with serious webshops.

Thanks in advance

I am 67 kg and love my Cults. I have the 6 and the 9 thats all. The 9 starts very early (14 knots is plenty), it could be a faster turning kite, but i like it much more than my old Boxer SLE 9. The 6 is realy nice, turns fast, the downside is that i have to depower on the trimstrap when wind gets up around 30 knots, no need for that on the old Boxer 6 on 2:1.

What i realy like about the kite is its ability to turn well when depowered, and that it drifts realy well when riding waves. My next choice if i was not riding Cult would be SS Rev or North Rebel 08. SBIII has to much low end for my size

The boom is in my opinion the cleanest and best designed of all brands this year. I am looking forward to adding a 4.5, so my kit will be 4.5, 6 and 9. I love the 6-9 combo because they cover such a huge windarea, the downside is that the 9 is a bit slow, the only reason i would get a 7.5.

Live in Denmark, think our price is quite good especially if you can get it tax free (25 % of) The 6 is around 900 euro. www.nautic-surfogski.dk/Kitesurf/Shop/Kites/

I love Cult for wave riding. They drift along so nice when riding down the line and in turns you can either pull hard on the bar and make the kite almost halt and turn on the spot or go for slower turns with constant pull. Make sure you have a 6 given you get strong enough winds at your spot, it is my fav. 12-9-6 is a really nice combo although you can get by with 6 & 10.5 (or 7.5 & 12). However, you will then face winds where you are either slightly under- or over-rigged.

I used to ride the 6 and 9m Cults. I have changed to 6 - 7.5 - 10.5m.
I still have my 9m, but find I never use it.
Perfect wave kite with total depower, stable drift and dependable relaunch.

Reason- There is a huge top end / low end difference between the 6 and 7.5.

Wind Range
On my 6-0 surfboard, riding waves 125 days a year
Weight- 78 kg 172 pounds. Height- 6 feet 1.8 meters

6m- 23 to 40 mph
7.5m- 18-30
10.5m- 15-25

PS- I pay for my kites and often buy them used.

I love the cults for wave riding. I weigh 195 and have the 6, 9, and 12(and a 15m rev for light wind). If I could do it again I would probably go 7.5 & 10.5 (1 less kite). :D
