I am somewhat new to snow kiting and I was wondering if anyone has an opinion on the 12m Slingshot Snow Ranger Kite? I have skied lots and want a kite I can use in light winds on lakes. I weigh 180 lbs and I am concerned that the 12m size of the kite may be too much. Would the 12m Slingshot Snow Ranger Kite make a reasonable first kite?

Yes it would be fine. It's very stable, has plenty of pull, and plenty of depower
Slingshot quality thru and thru, new bar with 20m colored lines.
I have a brand new one here for 375.00 complete, you pay shipping.
It has been flown once to make sure its tuned properly.
If ya don't want it, its going on ebay...

I use a 9m Ranger for snow kiting as my bread and butter kite (and love it). I have several LEI's to choose from, but prefer the Ranger in the snow. I've been out on my Ranger and doing well while guys on 16m bow kites were having trouble keeping their kites in the air. I'm about 175, so close in weight to you. I have used my Ranger in 10-30 mph wind--lots of depower, and in 10 mph it's still enough for a lake, especially on bare ice using skates (20 mph in a 10mph wind). I think a 12m kite might be a little much unless you're only going out in light wind. The 12m might be nice for hills where you need more power. I live in southern Wisconsin, and the lakes are the best open terrain. What part of the world are you going to be snow kiting in?
Don
