Yarga 08

Postby Rhode Island kite freak » Wed Sep 17, 2008 8:40 pm

took mine out twice so far, 9meter, once underpowered just to fly it and once powered, 22-25kts
I'm 125#.
This kite backstalls bad when unhooked! you must fully pull in the depower strap or it will fall,
also it requires more wind than a 9 should, its more like a 7/8.
it is really quick in loops and fast in general, but other than that I'm not impressed.
I may keep it as a high wind kite, we'll see how it does in high 20's to low 30's which is when I would go to my 6 anyway. :(

anyone else have an unbiased opinion of this or any other size 08 Yarga?
Matt

it sounds like your using the kite badly tuned, lengthen the back lines/shorten the front lines in some way, and it will seem underpowered best kites allways have done in my opintion....and your heavy so that doesnt help.

I will try lengthening the back pigtails, and hope for more wind, but I thought I was buying a 9 meter not a 7.
I'm 125 pounds not KG.

not super tight, but to the point where it is taught when you power it up. If its still backstalling, then i guess i think you should just do what the guys above me said (lengthen the back lines/ shorten the front)

EDIT: a friend of mine flies yargas, i dont. i fly hadlow pros.

the people who claim kites like these 'fly like shit' are the ones who are to afraid to use it to its true potential, powered and low its the style of the kite you can make it work its not going to do it for you though, alot of people assume the new kites will make there riding better just tune it keep the 5th line so its just tight when unhooked and it will be fine develop you own style and have fun, just dont be put off by these kooks mr american they dont like it because it doesnt boost as easy as their 10m flat kite :D

I have the 11m and have the backlines always on the first knot (bottom) and the 5th quite tight.
When i unhook i pull the strap as far as it needs to so it doesn't backstall.
The lowend is not great but i love the kite for wakestyle...

I have the 13m. I used to kite on Yarga's when they first came out in 04/05, in fact I still have an '05 11m and it works better than this kite. This is a average kite and I am a big Best fan. My 13m can barely go in 18-20 kts of wind. This kite pulls worse than a 9m Waroo. Unacceptable. I have used it with and without the 5th line and figured out it works best without. When jumping unhooked it doesn't really have any advantage over an SLE, which is why I bought it. May try a Fuel instead or just keep working with SLE's.
