I can assure you that these boards..NEWIND ARE THE BEST EVER MADE... If you look with your eyes haw the boards are made...you don't belibe that is possible create something totally handmad.. The split, is more durable, because is more strong in the centre.
I know it's expensive...but also a ferrari is expensive!!

The Italian touch... in a sense.

Had the chance to see one in real. It is a masterpiece of handcraft. Superb!
And being full carbon this board is way lighter than any production board on the market.

Would love to see a travel wavekiteboard by Newind (at reasonable price )

Balliwind make a very good travel wavekiteboard which is hollow and in full carbon as well as their travel twin tip, which is also full carbon. The waveboard is fast and rearly nice to ride. They are also looking at making a no nose version to reduce the length of each half to below 80cm so that it will fit into a wider range of holdalls and suitcases as it is difficult to find holdalls longer than 80cm. The new board could have a quad/thruster option. Their web site is www.balliwind.co.il .

it's a simple idea and i think i works. For me I would preferr to buy a good board and pay the extra luggage fee, or even rent from the destination you are travelling to, probably it would be cheaper..

The name of the manufacturer is "Vent de folie" meaning "Crazy Wind".
The Nomad board is not totally new. 2009 will be the second year this board is mass produced.

What is really nice in the concept is that you don't need a lot of carbon or a huge tolerance with the carbon spars required by other projects.
This simplicity during manufacturing has an important consequence: they are much cheaper to produce: 750 eu that is 950USD if used in europ, 800 USD if exported (no tax but add post fares)
The Italians from Laolakiteboards.it liked the idea so much that they propose a foldable board based on the same idea (top deck), the DIVISIBILE based on Balsa material (142x40). http://www.laolakiteboards.it/


In addition to that, once you have bought one deck, you can use different types of boards.
This concept can be described by the picture bellow which represents the 4 prototypes available in series in April 09.

This is not travel but is single, has a soft board, against minor impacts
with a look very attractive.

I've also been looking at a split board design. My obvious concerns are : weight, strength in the join, cost, durability, and ride. The board I've pretty much narrowed it down to is the Mutare, but I haven't seen any reference to it here. The design makes more sense to me than any of the others, the cost isn't bad, it's apparently a similar weight to 1 piece designs, and I really like the bag concept. Has anyone got one, or demo'd one?

i have two foldable kite for almost 2 years from "no mad" and have been travelling hard with them 2 weeks per month with 4 to 6 flight a month and i still using them and nothing else .

i will probably ad a surfboard next christmas
