You're lucky. Not sure where you're moving from but for folks in the Colorado Rockies and Western Nebraska Lake Mac is pretty sweet. Check out:

Good article:

map of the camping and kiting area: http://kiteboardingcolorado.com/

Camping right on the beach, clean water, decent wind...it could be worse. :D

I live near Denver. The Kite Ranch is a seasonal operation. I don't know if there's much kiting in the winter months as I am guessing it gets nasty COLD there. Plus, most of the local folks head to the mountains and pack the kites away for the winter or snow kite in the mountains when possible.

My guess is that Bob from the Ranch is taking a break after a busy season. He's always been good about returning my emails so I'd give him some time.

realy its not too windy in the winter.
my perents run a campground on the south side, and i am going to help guide some hunting this winter so i will be stuck there.
but i am hoping to get some off season wind or take a kite trip to lake dillon.
i dont have any water gear so the wind dosnt have to be too strong but that is the funnest
