This is a short review of the Brunotti Onyx board 136x40. By no means expert but i'll try to share some light here. Kitting for 1 year in mostly choppy / gusty conditions. Weight 90kg. Boards: now Brunotti Onyx 136x40 and waiting for the Mako wide 140x40.
First impresions: Just got this board and right out of the box is definetly a looker. It's a woody with some very nice black graphics on it (looks like tribal or maori, i don't know). Nice abs sidewalls, nice and comfy straps with mid soft deck pads and G10 fins. The overall feeling is that this board is a touch too soft. The weight of the board is actually quite light, maybe one of the lightest boards i've ever seen.
On the water. 16-20knots and quite messy chop (as usual). The board might feel too soft in land but on the water it's actually not that much soft. i would say mid soft (like the 555 i had) and definetly a chop eater, very comfortable on the knees and the pop is not that bad at all. I found the upwind drive off this board quite good , maybe helped by the small concave on the bottom.
Overall a quite nice allround board.
