You said: "the safest thing available right now when things go very wrong or for solo riding"
What do you base this opinion on?
Have you tried the 2 line safety system in desperate overpowered gusty conditions?
I've been riding (testing) my Xbow 16 upper limits in inland waters (sudden 28 knots gusts in average 18 knots winds). Not fun. Don't do it!!!
. Insane jumps, though...
I activated the IDS at the end of the session just to see how it performed. Obviously a couple of friends were on shore waiting for the unexpected. I do not want to hurt myself! All went fine. The kite fell with no forward pull and despite the gusty weather it stood still "flagging" with leading edge sitting on the water as if there was not wind at all. IMO, the kite's safety was unbeatable.
I did not go for the kite. I recovered the bar, re-armed the chicken loop and relaunched the kite again.
That's all I can say. Hope I've been of help.

IDS = Intelligent Depower System...... True?
In that case what is so intelligent about it?

I recently purchased a barely used 2008 Cabrinha 55cm model 121 bar.
It came with the 'swivel' style chicken loop -
I plan to replace it with the newer, Red-colored IDS series chicken loop.
While the IDS series chicken loop does not appear to have its predecessor's swivel feature,
it does come with an alternate means of anchoring one's leash (near the top of the loop).
This option would appeal to pro-riders and those who practice wakestyle moves.
Also, the IDS series chicken loop has a donkey dick/chicken finger that can be 'moved' to the side.

That is incorrect. Only the 2010 chicken loop got the movable donkey dick. Not the 2009 IDS chicken loop.

I appreciate the head's-up, Kosh.
I recently saw a picture (below) of the 2010 IDS loop and thought the Cab '09 IDS loop previously had that attribute.
I have several Naish 2008-2009 Smart Loops and a GK '09 loop that have a moveable 'finger,' too.

It will be nice to see what 2010 parts will be made available to upgrade previous bars.
(i.e. 2010 CL/QR w/ new trapezoid & moveable 'security pin'/donkey dick, overslide & tensioning ring)

It was possible (if you found a shop who had the spare parts) to buy everything for the 2009 bar. So I guess it will be the same for the 2010 bar. But maybe just as smart to buy a complete bar, especially if the flying lines starts to wear out on the 2009 bar....
