Blade Kites

Postby ed257 » Thu Jan 01, 2009 8:59 pm

Have any of you switched over from major brands to Blade kites? I am wondering if the performance and durability is on a par with leading brands (Naish, Cabrinha, Slingshot, North, Best, etc)?

They look pretty good and their prices are low.

Thanks,

Ed

I have. The 2009 kites are up there with anything else on the market. I prefer the Trigger a bit slower more wake style kite.

Get a Demo and have a go.

We have some people who have Vertigos - I have used them and like them they are very maneuverable, have good lift and have excellent bottom end. Build quality is good. Bar is nice.

I don’t own one but I talked to a rider that does. He tested them against a few other major brands "price not a consideration" and went with Blade. The quality of the kite looks excellent on the ground. In general, the older eclipse kites are similar designs, more specifically the Eclipse Thruster and Nobile 666 are based on the design of Blade Vertigo. Today I am guessing they are more different then a year ago but I am not really sure, as I never rode a blade kite myself. Last time I wanted to buy one the online store didn’t work, I had to call them long distance and even then they were sold out between model years, must be small production runs. I think if you like the thruster, go towards a vertigo.

I had a cabrinha, and I am now flying a Blade for more than a year. I crash my kite at least 15 times every session (missing the bar...) and I really can Not complain about the quality.
