My humble request to Ocean Rodeo

Postby diogobethonico » Tue Jan 06, 2009 12:20 am

Hi,

Im' a really really big fan of the mako wide board. Since i bought my 2009 mako wide i'm trying to understand why the board is so damn good!

Last weekend i had a light wind session. Although the mako wide has a nice flotation, i had to use a really wider board due to the light winds. I rode the Cabrinha Plasma (146x46). I found it plans really early than the mako, but it fells unpleasant compared to the mako.

OK, this is what i want: I want a Mako light wind dedicated board! I think it should be wider than 40cm for extra flotation AND still have the legendary mako's "chop killing" characteristic (just keep the deep concave).

Is it possible? What would we gain with a board like this? What would we loose?

Thank you very much!

Agreed, I'm 185 lbs and on the Mako Skinny, but I've rode the wide as well. It's great when it's powered up,, but light wind I cannot get planning as quick.

What would be your guess? 150x145?

Do you think it would have enough flotation for a light wind board? Besides, i think that's not so different from the 140x40 they already have.

cheers

I thought the Mako 150 wide was already a great lightwind machine. or at least need very little power to go upwind. maybe a 150x45 sounds good. The 150 always felt shorter in the water than what it is. ride the 140 now.

2 cm. on width makes even more difference than 10 cm. on length in any board on the market regarding low wind and earlier planning.
I'm willing to try the 140*40 Wide one day,but as my only current TT is 41 width and wide tips i don't think it will match the same the low end, maybe i'm wrong.....
Also there are two surfboards on my quiver too, and i wanna end with one size TT for all conditions just like till now.
IMHO a Small,Medium,Large sizing on Makos increasing large/width in all of them would be great
to fit more customers/conditions.An e.g. would be like that:

Small : 140*40
Medium: 144*42
Large : 150*44

Just my opinion... :thumb:
cheers
