Spleene Door 2009

“The Original since 2002”

Since its conception in 2002 the SPLEENE DOOR has enabled no end of kiters to get out onto the water and ride when no other board could.

From beginner to expert the DOOR set the standard for light-wind riding and provided the ultimate tuition tool for any kiteschool worth its salt.

The DOORs ability to built up line tension in the kite and convert it into forward drive when there is barely a ripple on the water is legendary and no other Twin-Tip Design has ever come close since.
Thanks to its parabolic shape, excellent flex-characteristics and ultra-wide tips the DOOR not only planes extremely fast and early but at the same time absolutely flies upwind as if it would ride on rails.

These awesome performance levels in light winds didn’t go unnoticed for long and many brands have tried to copy this by now legendary Design.

However, Rainer Kauper Mr.Spleene himself and creator of the original DOOR never rested for long and continued to push the design to its limits, improving it year after year.

Finally, after 8 years of constant development the brand new line-up of 2009 SPLEENE DOORs is about to be released worldwide and for the first time the DOOR will now be available in two different ranges.

With so many copycat shapes on the current board market SPLEENE wanted to leave no doubt that there is only one brand that makes the real DOOR and only one brand who truly deserves to call their design by this legendary name.

The bold new graphics further underline the DOORs mission statement for 2009:
If it doesn’t say SPLEENE DOOR on it, then you won’t get SPLEENE DOOR performance from it.

Here a couple of photos of the Strap/Pad Combos for both HT and FT Doors.

The HT Doors come with Spleenes new TB Strap System which can be fixed by hand without the need of a screwdriver.
Coupled with the new Diamond Pad this system allows quick and easy adjustments of stance-width and toe-in whilst on the beach.
It also has the benefit of not being able get loose by itself as can sometimes happen with standard screws.

The FT Door is supplied with the super comfortable moulded FT-Footpad and super soft FT-Strap, a type of combo which is usually only found on boards in a much higher price category.

Sweet Boards... More happy kiters especially heavier guys and lighter summer wind...!
Keep up the good work Spleene! Already presold some Monster 164's... Guys can't live without them...

Having fun on my 159 last year.. OK not 09 yet but will be....not just light wind boards.. you can do tricks with them too... those flexi tips make it feel so smooth and smaller... Can't wait.. worth every penny...

I am not sure whether the US prices are set yet as they probably very much depend on the exchange rate but as far as I am aware the Fun Tech Door is more around the $700.00 mark.
The HT Doors are $100+ more though.
Then again you get what you pay for and as the Door increases most riders time on the water by quite a healthy margin, most think it is worth the investment.

They're probably great boards but for me to expensive.

I built "My Door" last summer and used it a lot :) No fins, windsurf straps, goes up wind like crazy. It's laughable but my heavens it works well. I mean if you just gotta get out in those light wind days, why not?... cost 50 bucks to make it, no side cut, no rocker. Dimensions are very close to the real thing.

The downside is that I can go in winds that are too light to re-launch my kite off the water.

Spleene Fun Tech Door 60 at $819 Cad is lower than Hi Tech Door 159 at $949 Cad...
So they did a good thing to get these to styles going for those who want to save $130... on Fun Tech

We need a warm up to get going here...

Well, I guess the Euro is a little strong these days and unfortunately the strength of the CA$ is probably quite connected to the US$.
Spare a thought for us in the UK though, where the Pound Sterling is worth another 20% less than either of the two $ currencies.
